Backcountry skiing montana

A 2.5 mile walk from downtown Cooke City Montana, the Woody Creek Cabin is nestled in the forest near the confluence of Woody and Hayden Creek at 8,700 feet in elevation. This zone south of Cooke City, is compromised of national forest and wilderness, which is 1/4 mile from the Wyoming border and is not accessible by snowmobile. In the summer months, the only way to access the cabin is by foot or by horseback. Whether you are staying at the Woody Creek Cabin with your significant other, a group of friends, or having a family reunion, the Woody Creek Cabin offers one of the most unique lodging experiences you will find anywhere in Montana.

Woody Creek Cabin

The Woody Creek Cabin was constructed in the summer of 2012, out of standing dead timber from the property and recycled materials. The Cabin is 20′ by 24′ with a sleeping loft and is available for nightly rentals. The cabin sleeps up to 10 people comfortably on new memory foam mattresses. Water is provided by snowmelt in the winter and a spring creek in the summer.

The cabin amenities include:

  • Full furnishings
  • Cooking utensils and cookware
  • Mattresses
  • Lighting
  • Wood burning stove and firewood
  • Board games
  • A relaxing atmosphere and amazing views!
  • Water is provided by melting snow in our specially designed snow melt tanks on the wood burning stove or by the spring creek a couple hundred feet from the cabin.

All you need to bring is food, beverages, sleeping bag and willingness to have a good time!
